BRYAN AUSTIN - WHAT WOULD MARVIN SAY? / SUNDAY

Details

This is where it all started! Review from Juno Records of our first release as follows:-
Pat Biggerstaff's ZIP catapults itself into the modern soul game with an arresting statement of intent; St Louis born, Kansas-based Bryan Austin takes time off his calling as a missionary to lay down two soft, dreamy, string and piano based ballads. "What Would Marvin Say?" is rich in references and respect while "Sunday" takes The Moments' classic to slower, deeper, emotive pastures. Both establish ZIP as a new label with promise'

Legendary Motown Hall Of Fame Songwriter Janie Bradford Reached Out To Bryan And Honored Him By Asking Him To Record Her Lyrical Masterpiece "What Would Marvin Say". She Had Previously Honored Him By Becoming A Fan Of Some Of His Other Work & Comparing Him To Some Of The Greats She Had Previously Worked With. So Bryan Recorded It & It Was Well Received. But After Performing It At A Show, He Was Feeling A New Inspiration, So Since He Had Previously Scheduled A Recording Session The Next Day To Work On Another Project, Was Inspired To Try To Recapture The Magic From The Live Performance. And In One Take, Experts Say He Surpassed The Live Performance. The Engineer Who Is Usually "Laid Back" Was Up Dancing While I Was Singing It. We Remixed It & Now Here's "What Would Say"(Remix). Heikki Suosalo Of "Soul Express" Magazine(Ospoo/Helsinki, Finland) Calls It "Ethereal" & Hoping You Will Too!!!

BIOGRAPHY

A minister- singer-songwriter born and reared in St. Louis, Mo. where he first started to develop as a singer. Bryan later moved to Los Angeles to expand his artistic development. In Los Angeles, Bryan studied under Dini Clarke (who coached such talents as Al Jarreau, Roberta Flack and Peabo Bryson, etc.) and under celebrity voice coach Bob Corff (who has Mariah Carey, Samuel L. Jackson, Billy Bob Thornton, etc.)

Some of Bryan's Los Angeles successes include a brief contract with Redd Foxx Productions, appearances at the Comedy Store, Gazzari's, (on the Sunset Strip), Sahara Hotel - Las Vegas and many other venues.

While in Los Angeles, Bryan (born Austin Bryant) had a manager who thought Bryan Austin was more commercial, so for over twenty years Austin's commercial name has been Bryan Austin.

Throughout his career, he's been compared to some of R&B's best (Eddie Kendricks, Smokey Robinson, etc.). Lately he's compared to Aaron Neville, Johnny Mathis and even Mel Torme. He's truly honored to be compared to such greats but what he loves most about his career is that he's finally come into his own style.

After 17 years in Los Angeles, Bryan returned to his native St. Louis where he worked with some of St. Louis' finest musical talents.

The son of a Baptist church deacon, Bryan now resides in Kansas City, Mo. And since rededicating himself to the Lord, what started out as Bryan singing on Wednesday nights at his home church (St. James United Methodist Church) has grown (and continues to grow) into a full blown music ministry. He's now invited to sing at various churches and other venues. On occasion he still performs some wholesome “Old School”

Heikki Suosalo of "Soul Express" magazine(Helsinki, Finland) calls Bryan the "master dreamer” because all of his full length CDs have the word dream in the title. His three & a half vocal range is a joy to hear especially his falsetto.
